theavettbrothers_closerthantogether The Avett Brothers
Closer Than Together

From founding member Seth Avett’s comments on The Avett Brothers tenth and newest full-length album: “We didn’t make a record that was meant to comment on the sociopolitical landscape that we live in. We did, however, make an album that is obviously informed by what is happening now on a grander scale all around us… because we are a part of it and it is a part of us. Closer Than Together is a record of obvious American origin—a creation that fittingly could only come about through hard work, measured freedom, awe-inspiring landscapes, and perfectly flawed individualism.”

therubinoos_fromhome The Rubinoos
From Home

Power pop legends The Rubinoos are known in part for backing artists such as Jonathan Richman and Elvis Costello, but what’s perhaps most impressive is that the band is approaching its 50th anniversary. From Home is a homecoming recording of sorts. It reunites the original lineup of the band and was recorded in the same studio where they recorded their first single for Beserkley Records nearly half a century ago.

III

The Lumineers’ third album, III, is a cinematic piece presented as a narrative in three chapters, with each one centering on one main character. andersosborne_buddhaandtheblues Anders Osborne
Buddha and the Blues

“Buddha and the Blues means the duality of our existence,” says Osborne. “The lyrics are supposed to be true, conversational, and uplifting with clean, classic, and thumpin’ sounds. Tradeing The Big Easy for Southern California, Osborne siphoned the soul of SoCal into wistful sun-soaked soundscapes. “Cutting it in Ojai was crucial to achieving the right atmosphere. I usually write with a location in mind, so it helps me stay focused and guides me to craft a body of tunes rather than individual songs.”
