Cindy Lee Berryhill The Adventurist Cindy Lee Berryhill emerged on the music scene in the late 1980s with Who’s Gonna Save The World. After the death of her husband, Paul Williams, in 2013, she was determined to retain and honor the beauty and joy of the relationship they shared. With the help of her musical friends, Berryhill set out to write and record an album full of visionary songs. The Adventurist showcases orchestral arrangements, chunky rock guitar, and as Berryhill friend and fan Dave Alvin puts it—“raw nerve lyrics.” The Adventurist is an album full of songs that are a tribute to the love shared with her late husband, but will definitely resonate with everyone who takes this journey. |

Colin Hay Fierce Mercy Fierce Mercy is an epic, cinematic step forward from singer/songwriter, Colin Hay. The album explores the themes of love and loss but always with the singular perspective and acerbic wit that has defined Hay’s work since his days as front man of the wildly popular ’80s band, Men at Work. Now finding himself in the unprecedented place of having both ’80s fame and indie credibility, Hay has created a new classic in his already impressive body of work, using a palette of pop songcraft, Americana flourishes, and soundtrack ready strings. |

Son Volt Notes of Blue The 10 songs on Son Volt’s Notes Of Blue are inspired by the spirit of the blues, but not the standard blues as most know it. The unique and haunting tunings of Mississippi Fred McDowell, Skip James and Nick Drake were all points of exploration for Farrar for the new collection. Notes Of Blue reflects the blues as it resides in the folk tradition, but heavily amplified. Primal stomp, frenetic guitar, and raw slide exude grit and attitude, while other tracks seamlessly meld blues with hypnotic melodies, adding a unique balance to the album. |

Infamous Stringdusters Laws of Gravity Laws Of Gravity/em> represents a return to form for The Infamous Stringdusters. The group’s members are showcased as writers, singers, and players on an all original set of honest songs with a fresh yet familiar bluegrass/Americana/progressive feel. “We’re on the road all the time and there’s always gravity that’s keeping you grounded, and pulling you home,” says guitarist Andy Falco. “The themes on this album stem from things that happen out on the road, and the freedom we have to make music. We’re telling these stories of musical nomads, all the stuff we like to do.” |

Chuck Prophet Bobby Fuller Died For Your Sins Chuck Prophet describes his new disc, Bobby Fuller Died For Your Sins, as California noir. The state has always represented the Golden Dream, and it’s the tension between romance and reality that lurks underneath the surface in all noir films and paperbacks, and that connects these songs. Doomed love, inconsolable loneliness, rags to riches to rags again, and fast-paced violence are always on the menu on the Left Coast. |
